Education, Training & Career
Dr. Cavus earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2005 from Marmara University, Istanbul — one of Turkey's leading dental schools. He then completed a full-time academic residency in the Oral Surgery Department at Marmara University from 2005 to 2011, receiving intensive supervised clinical training in implantology, bone and soft-tissue reconstruction, and advanced oral surgery techniques.
At the conclusion of his residency, Dr. Cavus defended his doctoral thesis and was awarded two qualifications from Marmara University: a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Oral Surgery, and a graduate clinical degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery — the Turkish university-based equivalent of specialist surgical training, conferred through the Faculty of Dentistry.
From 2011 to 2019, Dr. Cavus owned and operated a private dental clinic in Istanbul's Caddebostan district, providing a broad range of general, surgical, and implant treatments. During this period, he was also active as a clinician-educator — delivering hands-on training courses on autogenous bone grafting, serving as an invited speaker at professional dental meetings, and lecturing at a Nobel Biocare Academy symposium shortly before relocating to Canada.
After moving to Toronto, Dr. Cavus successfully completed the NDEB equivalency process and has been practising as a licensed general dentist in Ontario since 2022. Since then, he has worked as an associate dentist across multiple dental practices in Toronto, serving patients with a focused scope in implant dentistry alongside general dental care.
Dr. Cavus has remained highly active in continuing education throughout his time in Canada, completing advanced courses in pain management, periodontal treatment and surgery, implant dentistry, full-arch implant rehabilitation, and moderate oral and parenteral sedation.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Cavus is a curious and active person who believes that balance and perspective make a better clinician.
He is an avid cyclist and reader — drawn equally to history and science fiction — and spends as much time as possible with his family. He is an enthusiastic supporter of his son's competitive swimming with the North York Aquatic Club.
